Psychotherapy for Children & Teens: Building Resilience and Emotional Well-Being
Growing up comes with its own set of challenges, and for some children and teens, these challenges can feel overwhelming. Childhood and adolescence are times of immense growth, change, and self-discovery. But for many kids, these years can also bring challenges like anxiety, low self-esteem, school struggles, or difficulties managing emotions. Psychotherapy provides a safe, supportive space for children and teens (ages 6-18) to explore their feelings, build coping skills, and develop resilience.
Whether a child is struggling with emotional distress, family changes, peer relationships, or academic pressures, therapy offers tools to help them feel more secure, understood, and empowered. Every child is unique, and therapy is tailored to meet their specific needs. Rather than focusing only on struggles, a strengths-based approach helps kids and teens see their own potential, reinforcing their ability to grow, adapt, and thrive. With the right support, kids and teens can gain the tools they need to thrive — both now and in the future — and navigate life’s ups and downs with confidence and resilience.
For young children (6-12), therapy often involves play, creative expression, and gentle guidance to help them navigate big feelings, behavioral struggles, anxiety, or difficulties at school. It can support children in developing emotional regulation, social skills, self-efficacy, and confidence.
For teenagers (13-18), therapy provides a nonjudgmental space to talk through stress, friendships, family dynamics, and mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, or trauma. It helps teens develop healthy coping mechanisms, improve communication, and build self-awareness and self-efficacy as they transition into adulthood.

EMDR / Trauma Therapy
Healing Trauma with EMDR Therapy
Trauma can leave lasting emotional and psychological imprints, affecting how you think, feel, and navigate the world keeping you stuck in patterns of fear, anxiety, and emotional distress. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories, allowing you to heal and move forward with greater ease.
EMDR allows the brain to reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity and transforming how they impact your daily life. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help your brain integrate and resolve painful experiences. This process reduces emotional distress, relieves symptoms, and fosters a sense of empowerment and resilience.
This approach is highly effective for PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other trauma-related challenges.
I provide a safe, compassionate space where you can work through your experiences at your own pace. Whether you’re struggling with childhood trauma, recent distressing events, or long-standing emotional wounds, EMDR can help you move toward healing, resilience, and emotional freedom.

EMDR: Activating the Brain’s Natural Ability to Heal
Your brain has an incredible ability to heal itself—just like your body does after a physical injury. However, when trauma occurs, the brain’s natural processing system can become overwhelmed, leaving painful memories stuck in a raw, unprocessed state. These unhealed wounds can lead to ongoing distress, anxiety, and emotional triggers.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) works by activating the brain’s innate capacity to process and integrate these experiences. Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps “unstick” traumatic memories, allowing your brain to reprocess them in a healthier, more adaptive way. Over time, distressing emotions lose their intensity, and you can move forward without being controlled by the past.
This approach doesn’t erase memories—it helps your brain file them away properly so they no longer feel overwhelming. EMDR empowers you to heal naturally, restoring a sense of balance, resilience, and emotional well-being.
