Meet Our Student Intern: Sarah Mason

Sarah Mason is a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) student at Yorkville University completing her practicum under clinical supervision. She brings several years of experience supporting individuals in long-term care and mental health settings, where she has facilitated therapeutic groups, completed biopsychosocial-informed assessments, and collaborated with interdisciplinary care teams.
Sarah takes a compassionate, client-centred, and strengths-based approach to therapy, creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard and understood. She enjoys working with individuals navigating stress, anxiety, life transitions, emotional challenges, and personal growth, and is committed to helping clients build practical skills and confidence as they work toward meaningful change.

Are student therapists qualified?

Yes. Student therapists are completing graduate-level counselling or psychotherapy programs and have completed significant education before working with clients. They practice under close clinical supervision by experienced Registered Psychotherapists.

Is therapy confidential?
Absolutely. Your privacy is protected just as it would be with any therapist in our practice. Student therapists follow the same professional and ethical standards.
Is virtual therapy effective?
Research consistently shows that virtual therapy is an effective option for many mental health concerns and offers the convenience of receiving care wherever you feel most comfortable.
Can I switch to a Registered Psychotherapist later?
Yes. If your needs change, we’ll work with you to transition to one of our Registered Psychotherapists when appropriate.
Are the fees affordable?
Our Affordable Therapy Program offers reduced-fee counselling to improve access to mental health care.
Individual Therapy: Starting at $50 per session. If the $50 fee is a barrier please contact us to discuss sliding scale options.
